GiveBig to Community Partners

Simply put, the ACLU-WA could not do its work without the partnership of countless on-the-ground allies. That's why this year's GiveBig fundraising event (May 6 – 7), we encourage you to support our allies who help freedom thrive in Washington.

Here are four of the many partner organizations fighting for grassroots change in our communities. Learn more about each organization below.
Meet the Organizations

The Washington Coalition for Police Accountability is a coalition of families who have lost loved ones to police violence, advocates, experts, and organizations working to win state-wide policies that reduce police violence and increase accountability.

Huy provides economic, educational, rehabilitative, and religious support for Indigenous prisoners in the Pacific Northwest and throughout the United States. Huy primarily raises monies and receives gifts, to in turn be gifted, for the benefit of such American Indigenous prisoners.

To carry out those goals, Huy partners with tribal governments, state government corrections and other agencies, higher educational institutions, non-profit and charitable entities, privately owned businesses, and compassionate American citizens.

Lavender Rights Projectprovides life-saving legal and direct services that are by-and-for Black and gender diverse communities throughout WA and the United States. Lavender Rights Project activates movement building, community organizing, and policy change through the lens of Black trans feminism.

Their work offers innovative, informed solutions that celebrate the joy, dreams, and brilliance of Black & gender diverse communities in Washington state and across the United States.

United Territories of Pacific Islanders Alliance, also known as UTOPIA, is a queer and trans people of color-led, grassroots organization born out of the struggles, challenges, strength, and resilience of the Queer and Trans Pacific Islander (QTPI – “Q-T-pie”) community in Washington State.

Since 2009, UTOPIA has worked with QTPI leaders to create a safe, welcoming, supportive, and vibrant space for members of the community to address basic needs, build pathways toward new expanded career and life opportunities, foster a sense of common purpose, and advocate for social justice, education, and overall wellness among members of the Pacific Islander LGBTQI community.

UTOPIA also seeks to build trust and common ground as a convener and bridge-builder between the Pacific Islander community and the LGBTQI community, who often share many of the same issues and concerns.

We are facing real threats to our communities, our freedoms, and our democracy. In this climate, positive change can seem like a fairy tale. It can be when you work alone. But we can make lasting progress when we rely on each other.
