A federal court has rejected the government’s request to dismiss a class-action lawsuit seeking legal representation for thousands of children nationwide facing deportation hearings.

This month, two high school students in Clarkston School District in Asotin County were charged originally with felony assault.  Their crime?  Discharging fart spray in the library.   

In America, we all have a right to our religious beliefs, but this does not give us the right to use our beliefs to discriminate against other people or impose our beliefs upon them.  

Youth are categorically different from adults. They are more impulsive, less able to fully comprehend the consequences of their actions, and hold greater promise for rehabilitation.

New surveillance technologies and the problems associated with them are complex and have a cost to our privacy and security, as well as to public budgets. Without privacy protections, clearly defined operating procedures, enforcement provisions, and audits, communities should rightly fear that government will use these systems in ways that infringe upon their civil liberties, now or in the future.
