Homegrown in Seattle, Tonie attended Ingraham High School and the University of Washington. She then worked with the developmentally disabled for more than a decade, was a Teen Program Director at the Union Gospel Mission’s Reach Out Center, and became a licensed foster parent and Guardian ad Litem. After attending Seattle University School of Law, Tonie clerked for the Justice Tom Chambers of the Washington Supreme Court, practiced law focusing on civil rights, bankruptcy, and consumer rights, and then started her own law firm. Tonie is on the Board of Directors for CENTS (Consumer Education and Training Services), volunteers for the Home Foreclosure Legal Aid Project, and mentors other lawyers.
