Tell the House to prioritize road safety

We need your help: Tell the House that traffic stops should only be for safety-related reasons.

Traffic deaths have reached a 30-year high in Washington, largely because of impaired and dangerous driving. Yet, limited police resources are too often used to enforce minor maintenance issues like a broken taillight.

Even worse, data shows these traffic stops disproportionately affect drivers of color, often leading to unnecessary tension, racial profiling, and even violence — all without improving public safety.

It's time to prioritize road safety. Tell the House: limited police resources should enforce traffic laws that pose a serious threat to driver safety. Sign in PRO on Traffic Safety for All (HB 1512) by 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025 to show your support.

Traffic Safety for All will help shift limited resources to stop high-risk behaviors like DUIs and speeding rather than pulling drivers over for issues that aren't a threat to public safety.

It's time to focus our resources where they matter most: making sure we all get home safe. Sign in PRO on HB 1512 by 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025.
